Hi friends, Amanda here! Can you believe 100 Layer Cake has been here for 15 years?! Yes, and here’s proof: our first post ever back in 2009! We are now approaching our 5,000th post (which, actually, doesn’t even include the motherhood and family content we shared on our other site 100 Layer Cakelet for years). And to celebrate, we are launching a Substack newsletter called Behind the Veil, as a way to share all we’ve learned along the way. Follow us right here to hear why we started 100 Layer Cake all those years ago, our fave moments (and trends), plus, a peek at where we’re at now.
We’ll still be posting here as always, but for those who want to be more involved in the 100LC community, we are excited to offer member-only content as well! Substack allows us to connect a bit more deeply with our friends and followers, not only with a newsletter but a live chat, recommendations, and member-only perks.
As far as the type of content, think of Behind the Veil as a wise sister to 100 Layer Cake—she dives beneath the surface of weddings and lifestyle with Q&As, chats (ask her anything, or ask her friends!) and in-depth guides. It’s a closer peek into all that goes into those pretty photos we all obsess over. We’ll also share exclusive (read: available nowhere else) curated shopping guides for fashion, entertaining, and home, as well as trend reports and travel ideas.

Having been reporting on weddings since 2009, we’ve learned the ins and outs of the industry from both perspectives: the engaged couple, and the wedding vendors responsible for bringing their vision to life. And we LOVE it.
