We wanted to create an unforgettable experience for our close friends and family. It was our goal for our guests to say they had the best time and to remember the incredible food and entertainment. For design, our vision was a modern East Meets West-inspired wedding that blended timeless tradition with modern heritage. Sonoma spice was the cornerstone of our color palette that was carried throughout the wedding day – from the invitations to the florals to the linens. Incorporating soft red tones in our wedding was a must because red symbolizes good luck and happiness in Chinese culture. It was truly the best night of our lives!

[field title=”Proposal Story”]We met five years ago in NYC on a dating app and chatted for hours till late night at a rooftop bar. The rest was history from there. Zack’s proposal was a surprise and I certainly was caught off guard. We are both skiers and took a trip out west with some of our friends to Park City, Utah. On the second to last day of our trip, we decided to take one last run before enjoying apres ski. We took the lift to the top of the mountain and Zack suggested taking a picture and took my hand to a section of the mountain and proposed! I was in total shock that I gave the wrong hand for the engagement ring! We celebrated that night at different bars in Park City. [/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]

The wedding gown was from my favorite designer Galia Lahav. It was my dream dress and everything I could have imagined — romantic, whimsical, and the most perfect mermaid silhouette. I slipped into a custom modern red dress during our reception for a traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony and my after-party look was a fun 3D floral applique dress from By Watters.

[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]

I chose mismatched bridesmaid dresses in shades of champagne and copper to complement the colors of fall. I gifted them dresses that incorporated a mix of Jenny Yoo, SHow Me Your Mumu, Fame & Partners, and Shona Joy. I wanted timeless dresses that my bridesmaids would feel confident and beautiful in.

Our wedding was a black-tie event, and the groomsmen wore tuxedos from The Black Tux. Zack wore velvet loafers from Salvatore Ferragamo with his tuxedo.

[field title=”Food & Drink”]

We wanted to make sure our guests did not leave our wedding hungry. We had a variety of American and Asian fare during our cocktail hour – lobster mac & cheese, raw bar station, ceviche, dumplings, lo-mein, and so much more. For our reception, we chose entrees that you typically would not see on a wedding menu – pan-seared veal chop with roasted garlic sauce, Bronzino with lemon sauce, and chicken saltimbocca. Our his and her drinks were an old-fashioned and a skinny spicy margarita! And, of course, our late-night food included a gelato cart that included our favorite flavors, cappuccino and matcha, and an Asian food truck that served dumplings and bao buns.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

Our florals featured garden roses in warm tones of champagne, caramel, and soft reds. There were two different types of orchids and chocolate red anthurium along with locally grown dahlias, and red butterfly ranunculus for added texture. I incorporated elements of my Asian heritage by mixing in red florals throughout the bouquets and centerpieces.

[field title=”Wedding Cake”]We wanted a simple cake that allowed our flowers and color palette to shine. Our wedding cake was super unique because it incorporated each of our favorite flavors – carrot cake for Zack and red velvet for me![/field]

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]To pay homage to my Asian roots, we incorporated a Chinese tea ceremony during our reception. We both changed into custom-made pieces – Zack wore a fitted red blazer and I changed into a modern red dress. [/field]
