[field title=”Wedding Colors”]When imagining their wedding, Shayna and Chance were very drawn to an elevated garden party which in turn helped guide their choices throughout the planning process. Their color palette features peach, blush pink, dusty rose, sage green and white – a combination that not only complemented the natural beauty of their venue but also encapsulated the essences of an elevated garden party.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Shayna and Chance strived for an atmosphere of romantic elegance. They wanted their guests to enjoy delicious food, great drinks and a lively band that would help them celebrate and dance the night away! Shayna and Chance wanted the reception area to be an extension of the already beautiful outdoor setting and transport their guests to a unique place to celebrate![/field]

Shayna and Chance were about to head off to Maui for a family vacation when Chance suggested a fun date night to kick off their trip. When Shayna pulled up to Chance’s apartment and opened the door, she was extremely surprised to see the living room covered in twinkle lights and a walkway lit with candles. At the end, Chance was waiting to get down on one knee! The next day, they joined Shayna’s family in Maui for a week full of celebrations!

The guests enjoyed an array of Shayna and Chance’s favorite Hors d’oeuvres from Shady Canyon Golf Club, accompanied by drinks of the guest’s choosing. At the reception, guests enjoyed a three-course meal starting with a beautiful mixed organic greens salad that had heirloom tomatoes, English cucumber, tri-colored baby carrots, watermelon radish, and balsamic vinaigrette. For their main course, guests were able to choose from a Filet Mignon with goat cheese, potato gratin, and seasonal vegetables or Roasted Chicken Breast with butternut squash, herbed spaetzle, field mushrooms, Tuscan kale, and natural jus. At the after-party, guests were greeted with sliders, fries, and milkshakes!

Shayna and Chance wanted to enhance rather than compete with the setting of their ceremony and reception. They chose Shady Canyon Golf Club because of the beautiful scenery of southern California hills and large oak and sycamore trees. The floral arrangements consisted of butterfly ranunculus, roses, spray roses, lisianthus, sweet peas, mums, and Queen Anne’s lace. The elegant white dance floor was lit up by vintage chandeliers and twinkle lights that hung from a wood pergola draped in soft organic greens.

[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The guests were able to choose from two cake flavors: Vanilla cake filled with Dulce De Leche Swiss Buttercream, Dulce De Leche, Toffee Bits or Chocolate cake filled with Nutella Buttercream, Nutella Drizzle, and crushed Hazelnuts. While Chance and Shayna had their own flavor of Earl Grey Infused cake with Vanilla Buttercream, Orange Blossom Honey, and Blackberry Preserves![/field]

Shayna and Chance’s grand entrance was to “Everywhere” by Fleetwood Mac, which really helped set the tone for the evening! They shared their first dance to “Thank You” by Bonnie Raitt, Their Father-Daughter Dance to “Tupelo Honey” by Van Morrison, and Their Mother-Son Dance to “Days Like This” by Van Morrison.

Shayna and Chance worked with Loly Orozco from the Little Postage House on their wedding invitations and day of paper goods. Loly Orozco says, “I am a firm believer that invitations set the tone for a wedding and represent a unique opportunity to make a first impression on your guests! After speaking with Shayna, I knew that the invitation suite had to be classic, elevated, and, most importantly, incorporate elements reminiscent of a garden party.” The invitation was letterpress on handmade paper and included a gold wax seal with the couple’s monogram and silk ribbon. The details card included a sketch of the venue. Throughout the invitation suite, florals and other garden elements were present, including a liner with a floral pattern and a wreath with floral elements. One of the things that drew Shayna and Chance to the Little Postage House was Loly’s vast experience with vintage postage curation. As one of the nation’s first and largest postage curators, the Little Postage House works with their couples on everything from their paper needs to their postage and mailing needs. Loly says, “Our ability to not just design a suite but to also pair the suite with thoughtful and meaningful postage is something that really sets us apart. We are a one-stop shop for our clients, and everything is done in-house. When working with us, clients do not need to worry about finding postage, the amount of postage that they will need, or even mailing their invitations. We handle everything for them.” When it came to curating a postage collection for Shayna and Chance, Loly curated a set that encapsulated their story. A golfer stamp was included s in honor of Shayna’s late grandfather, who was an avid golfer. The sunflower stamp honored Chance’s late grandmother, who had grown sunflowers in her garden. The California stamp was a nod to where Shayna and Chance grew up, met, and fell in love. The fish stamp was for Chance’s love of fishing- Chance, Shayna, and her Parents now own a Fishing Lure Company! After the wedding was over, Loly with Little Postage House created a Christmas Ornament with all the stamps used from their wedding as a beautiful keepsake of their wedding day.

In turning to the day of items, Shayna and Chance worked closely with Little Postage House to maintain a cohesive and elevated look that reflected the same level of care and thought that went into the invitation suite. Loly tied the invitation suite details into the day of items by incorporating the couple’s monogram and wreath in the day of items and maintained consistent fonts and inks. Their monogram was also displayed on personalized napkins at the Little Postage House. Loly Orozco from the Little Postage House says, “Wedding menus are one of my favorite day items to work on because they are an important focal point on the table setting. If the menu isn’t right, it can throw off all of those careful decisions that a couple made during the planning process to create a beautiful table setting. So, we always work closely with our couple to ensure that their menus tie into the overall aesthetic of the reception. With Shayna and Chance, we printed the menus on the same handmade paper that was used for their invitation suite. We then personalized each menu with the guest’s name and meal selection, which not only makes service easier for the waiters but also makes each guest feel special.” Signage at the reception was created by the Little Postage House, which included table numbers, the bar menu, the guest book table, and the gift table. Each sign uniquely incorporated the same floral illustrations from the wedding invitation suite, keeping the look harmonious with the rest of the details.

[field title=”Special Detail #3″]As a surprise wedding gift, the Bride’s parents surprised Shayna and Chance with a live painting of their reception. The artist chose the dip at the end of their first dance as the inspiration of the painting. The stunning painting now hangs in Shayna and Chance’s living room as a reminder of their perfect day.

Shayna and Chance chose Shady Canyon as their venue not only because of its natural beauty but in honor of her late Grandfather, he was the first president and an integral part of the formative years of Shady Canyon.

Shayna included plumeria flowers in her bouquet in honor of Chance’s late grandmother’s favorite flower.

Chance built a beautiful arch that they used in a small private ceremony in 2020. Shayna and Chance used that arch again at the beginning of the aisle at their wedding at Shady Canyon. [/field]
