[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

My vision for our wedding was an Italian fairytale. I knew I wanted to find a venue that blends modern Mediterranean influences while also highlighting the beautiful, ancient history of Italy- Borgo Santandrea perfectly embodied that aesthetic. The way the hotel is built into the sea cliff allows guests to experience different vibes with each phase of the wedding. A lush garden terrace straight out of a fairytale set the stage for our ceremony, the rustic brickwork and traditional coastal decor of the beach platform served as the perfect backdrop for our cocktail hour and after party, and another terrace situated above the sea was a blank slate that allowed us to mingle the garden vibes with a floral-laden trellis above our one, long dinner table with a beachy, lounge area for after-dinner dancing. When I committed to the venue, the hotel wasn’t completely finished. I’m so glad I trusted my amazing wedding planner, Maryla, at Art Of Perfection Events for understanding my vision and knowing Borgo Santandrea would be the best venue to bring it to life.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]Erik proposed when we were vacationing in Curacao. I had a feeling it might be happening during the trip, but our first night there, Erik convinced me that it would be too logistically challenging (e.g., sneaking an engagement ring through security with me right next to him, hiring a photographer in a foreign country, figuring out the ideal proposal spot), so I put it completely out of my mind, slightly disappointed. The next day while exploring downtown Willemstad, Erik was acting slightly off, being very indecisive and flustered about which of the many restaurants we had already wandered past to pop in for a drink. I shortly found out that he was just trying to find the photographer he hired, so he led me down a picturesque side street, where I was too enthralled with the cute cat sitting nearby to notice him down on one knee or the photographer snapping photos. Needless to say, I was shocked, and the photographer got some really cute photos of the proposal, cat included.

Both my ceremony and reception dresses were Olia Zavozina, a Nashville-based designer. The ceremony dress had a sheer, pleated tulle bodice with a layered tulle skirt with floral, lace appliqués and a matching veil. I wanted something lighter for the reception, so I went with a strapless mermaid made from tulle overlaid with lace and accented with sequins.

[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]Bridesmaids were in chiffon, blush pink dresses with lace detailing on the back.

The groom wore a custom turquoise suit from Suit Supply with Jimmy Choo loafers and a blush knit tie.

[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Food & Drink”]We had a selection of canapes during our cocktail hour- the two pizza options were fun surprises for our guests. For dinner, guests enjoyed a shrimp and tomato gazpacho appetizer, a pasta course, a choice of fish or beef for the main, and an overflowing dessert table. We had three signature drinks: Bella Rosa was the bride’s gin-based drink topped with rosé, Orange Amore was the groom’s take on his favorite Baltimore orange crush, and the Italian Shih-poo was a play on an Italian Greyhound renamed for the bride and groom’s Shih-poo Harper. We also had limoncello and aperol spritzes and espresso martinis flowing all night.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]The amazing Armando Malafronte made my floral dreams come true. We did a deconstructed floral arch and whimsical flower-lined aisle with white garden chairs to create that fairytale feeling for our ceremony. The dinner table had flower arrangements in antique-style vases with different height candles lining the table and a trellis with hanging flowers and chandeliers above. Our wedding planner also rented some fun furniture to create a lounge area next to our reflective dance floor. We also worked with Momental Designs for our invitations, and they helped us create special stationary for the rest of the wedding, including the cover of our welcome booklet, signs for our table sections, the signature drink menu, and a monogram that we had printed on pillows for our dance area lounge.

[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The wedding cake was the groom’s idea and one of his few requests- a “cheesecake” made of cheese wheels rather than cake. The venue was kind enough to pre-slice portions of each cheese wheel layer (one parmesan, one asiago, and one pecorino romano), and guests were able to enjoy this fun charcuterie during cocktail hour.

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]We rented a white Lamborghini Huracan Spyder to drive along the iconic Amalfi coast and take pictures in front of the beautiful backdrop of Atrani.

[field title=”Special Detail #2″]We hired a local painter to paint the scene of our ceremony, and it’s such a special piece of art that we’ll cherish forever.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]We ended the night with an amazing firework display over the Tyrrhenian Sea.
