They chose Provence, France, for their destination wedding. It was a very special place for both of them. Christophe used to spend vacations as a child there and it was there, they had vacationed on their first trip together to France. Marisol had visions of lavender fields dancing in her head. It was the ideal location for family and friends from Europe, a lovely respite for those living in Asia, South and North America to tour Europe.

If they would need to pick 3 words to describe their wedding vision, they would be: Ethereal beauty, romantic and stylish.

As an Image Consultant trainer, working for more than a decade in the image industry, for Marisol everything related to beauty, fashion and design has always been very important as part of her individuality and self-expression. For this reason, she did not hesitate on finding providers that really connected with her vision, even if it meant flying them in from all other parts of the world. Most of their wedding vendors traveled exclusively for their wedding from Colombia, Spain, South Africa and Poland. [/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]In 2017, former model, fashion stylist and image consultant, turned fashion media entrepreneur, Marisol Gómez and pharmaceutical executive, Christophe Meugnier, met in the most modern way.

As an expat Marisol had lived in Miami and New York. After spending some months in Sydney, Australia, Marisol returned home to visit her family in Medellín, Colombia. With tremendous personal and professional ambition, Marisol, a nomadic soul, had lived outside the country for 18 years and her trips home remained a special part of her annual travels. Fortuitously, October 2017 Christophe was the most momentous visit yet as the serendipitously two crossed paths thru a dating app. Christophe, a French Iberophile, fluent in Spanish, had worked and traveled across Europe, Asia, North and South America. Equally a citizen of the world, he had lived in over 9 countries and at the time was working in Perú, while a short weekend trip to Cartagena was derailed and he found himself in Medellin for a weekend falling in love with Marisol.

Initially, theirs’s was a long-distance relationship, where Chris traveled from Perú to Colombia, every 15 days to see Marisol. She had decided to prolong her stay in Colombia, to have the opportunity to spend more time with Chris. 7 months passed, when they both decided to move together to Bangkok-Thailand for Christophe’s new job opportunity, and Marisol continued to run Style & Image Studio, her own online image consulting training business from the Capital of Thailand.

Christophe proposed to Marisol at a romantic dinner at The Six Sense hotel, on the Island of Koh Samui in Thailand in 2019. A true romantic, Marisol started planning the wedding right away. [/field]

[section title=”The Fashion”]
[field title=”Wedding Gown”]Marisol’s dress for the ceremony was designed by Israeli designer, Liz Martinez, who custom made the gown for the Singapore boutique, Truly Enamoured. The original dress had long sleeves, but because it was a garden wedding in the summer the bust and body was altered to a sleeveless, V-neck style. Christophe wore a navy-blue tuxedo that was custom made for him in Bangkok. They wanted their ceremonial attire to be timeless, so that years later they could wear them again and honor their wedding anniversary.

For the lavender fields pre-wedding photoshoot, Marisol designed the dress and had the entire gown made to measure bespoke for her. She hired a print fabric designer to create a unique print (inspired by the flowers of Provence) and then tailor designed the dress, based on her vision. Marisol wanted an ethereal, romantic dress, with flight and movement, that would complement the delicate colors of the lavender fields, which she called “Lavender dreams”. To make it more versatile, she created an extra layer in the skirt, which could be removed for times when she needed to be more comfortable. That same dress was the one she wore for the rehearsal dinner. [/field]

The maid of honor, Marisol’s sister, wore a Marchesa design gown.

A few visual references for the guest wardrobe for each event were shared in the wedding website, aiming to replicate the summer provenzal colors (pastel and vivid colors). [/field]

[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Food & Drink”]After the ceremony, there was a cocktail hour where guests enjoyed Provencal-style appetizers and Champagne under the pine trees.

The wine and Champagne were hand-picked by Christophe’s father (from France) who led wine cellars trip in different regions of France specially to pick the highest quality and most celebratory bottles.

From the Rehearsal dinner in the amazing restaurant Airelles from La Bastide de Gordes to the wedding reception-dinner, they carefully picked provenzal style delicious dishes for their guests to enjoy.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Following the cocktails came the dinner and reception held under a magnificent tent designed and erected exclusively for their wedding. They did not want to use a typical tent, they wanted something chic and refined, that would give a romantic and ethereal touch. The idea of creating a structure with hanging veils, a Juliet crystal chandelier in the middle and flowers adorning the space was breathtaking.

They paid special attention to the flowers: “we wanted flower arrangements that look very organic, asymmetric and with movement, something different from the more rigid traditional flower arrangements”. Special attention was placed to ensure that the décor of the reception, ceremony and dinner area would blend perfectly with the beautiful and natural setting of Chateau Talaud’s gardens.

[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]
Surrounded by vineyards and cypress pines, Marisol and Christophe said YES through a very special ceremony, in which there were several spiritual rituals with the aim of achieving a connection with the energy of love, which was officiated by Laura Gómez, who is specialist in spiritual unions and traveled all the way from Colombia, like the musicians of the ceremony Daniela Di Mari y Orlando Sandoval, close friends of the couple and who delighted the guests with their heavenly voice and music.

Daniela Di Mari sang in different languages during the ceremony, in English, French and Arameo as we all as Sanskrit mantras. Laura, guided the ceremony through very special spiritual rituals: The ritual of light (the union of two souls through candles), the ritual of the roses (the power of roses evoking the energy of love) and the ritual of love affirmations. [field title=”Special Detail #1″]The initial wedding date was planned for June 2020. However, when Covid arrived of course they had to postpone it. June 2022 felt like more than a few years away. Marisol had carefully selected a best-in-class line up of wedding vendors to help create her ideal affair. The extra two years of planning, gave them much more time to bond over the entire process of creating their dream wedding together with their wedding planner, Yesica Lado from Spain.

[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Pre-wedding romance began with an epic sunrise photoshoot in the world renown Provence lavender fields. The experience was totally magical, amorous and intimate.

The wedding weekend festivities began with a welcome cocktail and dinner at sunset the day before the ceremony at LA BASTIDE DE GORDES-AIRELLES. This dreamy hotel with 18th century décor and exquisite restaurants, has numerous terraces and hanging gardens with panoramic views of the Luberon valley. There they welcomed their 50 guests, including family and friends who traveled from United States, Singapore, Australia, Hong Kong, Spain, Germany, Perú and Colombia. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]The next day on Friday, June 24, 2022, the ceremony and reception took place in the gardens of Chateau Talaud, a beautiful and cozy 18th century French Chateau, located in Loriol du Comtat. Marisol’s family visiting from Colombia, together with the bride and groom were staying at the Chateau. There were large beautiful rooms overlooking the courtyard and garden where they got ready watching the property transform from an amazing estate to a stunning ceremony and event space.

After the bride and groom made their appearance on the dance floor for their first dance, the party started Latin style with everyone dancing, eating, laughing and loving until 2am.

After 3 years of patiently or impatiently planning, 12 hours of romance, flowers, laughter and love filled everyone’s hearts. They wished the night would never end, but the memories and photos and marriage will last forever.
