Guest comfort was truly at the forefront of our design. We had multiple lounge set up’s throughout the space so guests could kick their feet up no matter where they were on the property. We did a mix of neutral patterned linen with pops of black and marble accents throughout the decor. We wanted to keep the look of the market umbrellas from the ceremony cohesive with the cocktail hour space and spruced them up a bit with a white and black scalloped umbrella offering shade as well as a point of interest in the lot. We kept a clear tent in order to not block anyone’s view from the water. Multiple custom bars were placed throughout the space. The mirrored bar and lounge tent was one of my favorite parts of the design![/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Days after our 2 year anniversary we were at the beach for our annual beach trip with my friends from college. After dinner Charlie asked me if we could do one of our favorite things, a sunset golf cart ride. Driving up to our favorite spot I saw a set up with a blanket, photos, and my favorite flowers. With tears streaming down my face he grabbed me by the hand and led me off the golf cart and to our spot where he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. The easiest yes of my entire life!

Love Story:
Charlie and I actually went to highschool together but we did not date, nor did we really know each other, only of each other. Five years later when we were both quarantined back in our hometown due to COVID19 we reconnected. It took only a few dates to realize I could spend the rest of my life with this man.

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]Everyone who knows me knows to expect something big, something extra, something fun. I knew I couldn’t have just a plain getting ready robe for my wedding day. I scoured the internet until I found the most perfect robe from VOIR Bride. The Victoria Robe was everything I had dreamed of and more.

I decided to keep wedding dress shopping intimate, only having my mom go with me. We started off in Charleston which is where we found my first look dress from Jodi Moylan at White on Daniel Island as well as my Anne Barge after party dress. After this, I knew I wanted an additional dress… something fun, something showstopping, something different. This is when my mom and I took off to New York City for our appointment with Nardos. We were lucky enough to have Nardos herself in our appointment. After talking to her about my vision, I watched her bring my vision to life as she sketched it all out in front of me. I lived my dream for the next six months having several trips to both Dallas and New York City for dress fittings until I finally got to bring home my dream wedding dress.

[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]When searching for what I wanted my bridesmaids in to get ready, I wanted to give them some of my favorite things. I wanted to give them things they would wear and use for a long time, not just on this day. There was no better option than the SKIMS short ribbed pajama set and my favorite ugg slippers.

When searching for bridesmaid dresses I knew I did not want my girls to have to break the bank but I wanted them in something they felt beautiful in. After searching several different places, I found the perfect dress from Birdy Grey. I had my girls in the black crepe Ash dress paired with beautiful Chan Luu earrings.

[field title=”Food & Drink”]This entire wedding day would not have been possible without my mom. She was a part of every decision, every detail, and every trip for dress fittings. This was one of the most fun seasons for the two of us and I wanted to think of a way to thank her and to honor her. Rather than having a bride and groom signature drink, we had one and named it after her: “Sabrina’s Sweet Dog”

Sarah and her mom always put together a lavish charcuterie board when entertaining guests for their parties, so it was important to them to keep this tradition alive. Given it was a warm June day, we wanted to still present charcuterie without putting out a display that would sit in the sun. Patrick Properties helped us create a custom passed item- the charcuterie cone! Guests were passed vellum cones finished with the couple’s monogrammed sticker from Studio R design. This was the perfect touch for cocktail hour!

When approaching design and our menu- we knew wanted to opt for items that not only would our guests love but also help beat the heat. In addition to Sabrina’s sweet dog, we passed a frozen gin gimlet. Patrick Properties was able to recreate one of our favorite summer cocktails from a downtown Charleston staple, Leon’s!

Of course we also wanted to showcase some Charleston staples like chicken and waffles, fried green tomatoes, and shrimp and grits!

No wedding night would be complete without passing espresso martinis after cake!

In lieu of a “wedding favor” we actually gave each guest a custom doughnut bag with Charlie’s favorite doughnut holes that were attached to the after party ticket![/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]First we started with the ceremony design. We knew wanted the mix of vintage pews and chairs as well as the market umbrellas to offer comfort to guests. However, it wasnt until after we saw the surprise dress that we knew we had to go a little bigger. Loluma Events built the custom arbor and stage so we could really showcase the new dress! Flora Andraya dressed up the arbor so beautifully with garden roses, white ranunculus, peonies, roses, sweet pea, stock, hydrangea and campanula.

As Sarah and Charlie recessed- guests threw rose petals on the newly happily married couple!

As guests made their way into the cocktail hour, this was the first place we started to introduce a few contemporary accents. We wanted guests to feel comfortable no matter where they were throughout the night. Lounge sets were completed with gold coffee tables, some of our favorite coffee table books, and florals tucked into a black compote. The black and white scalloped umbrellas really dressed up the space.

During cocktail hour- guests had the option of multiple custom bars finished with contemporary vases and gold table lamps. After cocktail hour, one of our bars actually flipped to a custom cigar bar.

Once we made our way into the tent- we knew we wanted one focal lounge piece to really set the tone. Loluma built a custom lounge banquette that completed this look! The floral adorned stage and all white dancefloor completed more of our glam look under the tent. We ended up sourcing a bunch of vintage crystal bowls that were used throughout the reception- on bars, lounge, etc.

The greenery bed swing hanging from the old oak tree was a must-have piece for Sarah and Charlie!

The all-white floral custom photobooth backwall was also a favorite part of the night for guests! [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]Jim Smeal recreated the design of Sarah’s showstopping custom Nardos gown that was a surprise to her bridal party, family, and groom! [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]It was important to still create the feeling of having a church ceremony on the lawn of Lowndes Grove. From a design standpoint- we opted to bring in a mix of vintage pews as well as structure chairs to still give that illusion of a chapel. Given it was a warm day in June, market umbrellas dotted the ceremony site and each guest had a seagrass hand fan in their seats. As a fun surprise- once guests jumped off the buses- Voices of Deliverance, a gospel choir, stepped out onto the top porch of the home to sing for guests!

While we switched over to a Palmetto strings trio for the actual ceremony songs, voices of deliverance actually made their way down to the ceremony site to sing the recessional and lead guests down to cocktail hour on the water while doing so! The choir sang Oh Happy Day as guests grabbed signature cocktails and began the party!

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Sarah has always had a love for fashion, so it was only normal for her to not have 1 but 3 dresses for her wedding day! Sarah did her first look with Charlie, her family, and bridesmaids all in dress #1. It was a complete surprise to everyone when she walked down the aisle in the brand new Nardos gown. Once the Nardos gown came into the picture, it truly did inspire so many different elements to the design. And of course it was only fitting that Sarah would change one more time into the Anne Barge gown for her exit and after party![/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Because Sarah did a special surprise for her mom during the cocktail hour- she knew she wanted to also have a special surprise for her father as well! We surprised both her dad and guests by bringing in a cigar roller from Cigar Row. This was a very fun interactive moment for guests- all were partaking! We created custom cigar bands and matches and keepsakes. The cocktail hour bar was flipped to be the cigar bar and guests enjoyed throughout the evening! [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]My entire life my brothers and my dad have been the men who have stood by my side, challenged me, and helped make me the woman I am today. They are my best friends and have set the standard for men in my life. It was only fitting that I not only did a first look with my dad but also my three brothers. This was one of my favorite things I did on my wedding day.[/field]
