From the bride… “I knew I wanted to have bright, summery, citrus hues to incorporate my Floridian roots into our New England wedding. From there, I trusted my wedding planner (Katie Ryan) and florist (Fig & Squill) to curate a vision that turned out even more perfect than I could have ever imagined. We started with the idea of assorted-shaped natural Rattans at varying heights with hanging greenery and pops of bright florals. From there, we developed the idea of incorporating different hues and patterns of green to balance the citrus hues. For the ceremony, the idea was to have an organic and natural feel of colorful florals sprouting from the arch and along the aisle. The custom green-pattern dance floor was a last minute addition recommendation of my wedding planner (Katie Ryan) that not only complimented and unified the colors and details of the tent but also became the stunning focal point. Clementines as escort cards on the head table were also a meaningful way to reference my Floridian roots subtly.”

“Will and I were introduced by mutual friends during our sophomore year of college at Shooters II Saloon, a local Duke University bar. After repeated set-up attempts by friends, we ultimately started dating. After college, we were long-distance as I attended medical school in Florida, and Will attended graduate school in Boston. We subsequently reconnected when I moved to Boston to complete my Obstetrics & Gynecology residency training and, within a year, moved in together. Will proposed on a beach walk with our dog, Harlow, in Moody Beach, ME, where I grew up vacationing with her family. We now live together with Harlow in Rhode Island.” A favorite moment Katie shared was that their wedding day began in the morning, with the two of them sharing a cup of coffee and exchanging private vows while overlooking the lighthouse and ocean at their iconic wedding venue, Castle Hill Inn.

In everyone’s opinion, Katie found her perfect gown. The story she shared made it event better- “I struggled to find a wedding dress that felt simple yet elegant. My childhood best friend sent me a picture of a dress from Elizabeth Fillmore and insisted it would be perfect for me. I traveled to New York City to try the dress on and instantly knew it was the one. The long-sleeve lace top added an elegant element to the simplicity of the dress that was perfect for the ceremony. My bridesmaids all choose their own unique dresses with the simple direction of something blue. The end product was an amazing assortment of shades and patterns that seamlessly flowed together!”

[field title=”Food & Drink”]Classic dishes where served throughout the evening with cocktail hour being a highlight. What kind of Newport wedding would it be without a raw bar! Guests enjoyed their hors d’oeuvres with an oceanfront view.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]The couple had chosen an array of colors that were both vibrant and subtle; from blues to oranges, yellows to greens, and pinks to purples. These colors were combined together in a range of different floral designs, with the main piece being the floral arch used as the backdrop to their ceremony. Mixed with the lush arch showcasing a picture frame view of the bay behind them, were vibrant florals in orange, red, and pink. In the reception area, they also featured various citrus touches with lemons, oranges, and dragonfruit as part of the tablescapes offering a bold and unique twist to the green-patterned linens.

Katie & Will’s cake showcased the most incredible florals made of sugar. Confectionery Designs created a work of art that not only blended perfectly with the wedding design and decor but stood out as a unique element.

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]A fan-favorite and focal point of the entire celebration was the patterned dance floor. A large, bold pattern that brought the entire design together. Once the dance party started, it was magic to see the floor filled and all of the guests fashion standing out midst this fun accent. [/field]
