When Maddie asked Karen of Pop + Fizz, “Can we channel Bridgerton vibes?”, she knew exactly what to do. (Read: All of her Netflix “training” prepared her for this moment.) She and her team filled Callanwolde’s iconic circular garden with lush pastel-colored blooms and built a custom-welded gazebo to sit atop the estate table and set the stage for the Reception by bringing the gardens indoors. Guests were welcomed with parasols, hand fans, and harp music floating through the air. It was ethereal and perfectly representative of Spring in Atlanta. Incorporating lots of vibrant tones and sentimental touches. Maddie and Gabe’s love story is a tale of serendipity and international romance. Their paths crossed in London while Maddie was studying abroad in Barcelona and Gabe was backpacking through Europe. Their journey led them to a sweet proposal in Costa Rica and culminated in a stunning Jewish wedding with nods to Gabe’s Mexican heritage. Callanwolde Fine Arts Center, known for its breathtaking beauty, became the backdrop for their wedding. The venue was adorned with vibrant florals for the ceremony and wedding party, creating a lively and joyous atmosphere. The rest of the decor was elegantly styled to incorporate kisses of color intentionally and thoughtfully.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]

We met in London while visiting friends. Gabe was backpacking through Europe before his Sophomore year of college and Maddie was studying abroad in Barcelona, Spain for that summer. Both of us had friends that were doing a work-study program in London together and we happened to visit those friends on the same weekend. Our friends had class or work on Saturday and suggested that we hang out for the day. Maddie was not into hanging out with a stranger all day but then she walked into her friend’s flat and saw Gabe for the first time and changed her mind right away haha. On Saturday, we spent the day walking around London, eating street food and getting to know each other. Maddie was immediately smitten and texted her mom that day that she had met someone. In classic Gabe fashion, he was totally oblivious and had no idea Maddie was into him. We both went to school at the University of Florida and when we got back for the fall semester, Maddie made up any excuse to text Gabe. Gabe eventually asked Maddie to go on a date function with him and we’ve been together ever since. We hadn’t been out of the country in over two years because of Covid and had both been dying to go to Costa Rica. Gabe (our official travel agent haha) planned the most amazing trip in January of 2022. One of our stops was to Tulemar Beach and Gabe suggested that we do an early morning breakfast at the beach. Maddie was a little suspicious but went along with it. Turns out that Maddie’s suspicions were right – Gabe proposed that morning on the beach and had a photographer hiding and taking pictures.

The reception was a lively affair, highlighted by the Hora dance, a popular and joyous Jewish wedding tradition. Guests lifted the couple on chairs, dancing in circles, and celebrating the union with unbridled happiness and communal spirit. Maddie and Gabe’s wedding was not just a union of two hearts but also a celebration of culture, tradition, and love’s journey across continents. It was a day filled with beautiful traditions, vibrant colors, and the warmth of family and friends, all set against the stunning backdrop of Callanwolde Fine Arts Center.

I will be changing in my mom’s dress and my mom’s veil during the reception. It is important to me to get pictures in my mom’s dress and veil and to get detail shots of the veil. My mom hand-stitched hundreds of little pearls into her veil and I am so excited about it.
