The vision for the day was to be a modern colorful experience emoting all the feelings of these two lovely families coming together. The bride, Allie, was positive she wanted something her guests hadn’t seen before and at a location that meant something to her family. Colorful, chartreuse, and outlined in sleek black, the day came alive with a mix of textures paired with a custom scallop and Chicago Bean-inspired Matisse pattern.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]

Mike took me away for a weekend to Blackberry Mountain. He woke me up at 7 am with my favorite thing- a warm cup of coffee. He proposed privately in our cabin over a cup of coffee- and managed to secretly film the whole thing. The proposal video eventually became our save-the-date in flip book form!

I knew from the start I wanted sleeves- I just think they’re so elegant. When I found the Helly by Eva Lendel, which has a removable lace bodysuit under the dress, I knew it was the one. I loved that I got two looks out of it!

to choose a dress in the bright citrus palette. We made sure that when they walked down the aisle no one had the same dress color next to each other and the cherry on top was their bouquets coordinated with their dress tone specifically.

Black suits were worn by all but the month before the wedding we came across fun patter-filled socks that the groomsmen all donned too!

[field title=”Food & Drink”]

We leaned into southern hospitality comfort food with a nod to some personal favorites. The groom is an ice cream connoisseur so we made sure to have the famous local Leopolds Ice Cream on hand for scoops to be handed out during the welcome reception, Chicago style hot dogs were also served up by the firepits and for the wedding day a classic two-course meal with options between fish and beef was just enough to ensure guests were ready to boogie on the dancefloor for the rest of the night!

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

Knowing color was a top priority we called in Sweet Root Village from Virginia to come down and do it up. We dubbed the two crossed arches over the dancefloor, “the hot cross buns” and they became our guiding light for filling in all the other elements throughout the weekend. Alle wanted a shadow box bar of flowers at cocktail hour, a custom dancefloor, and flowers everywhere. There were three different tablescapes throughout the tent, each with their special place setting and moment. The round chartreuse tables housed our color of the evening, the two long king tables on either side of the dancefloor featured ikebana style arrangements and black and white Greek key pattern placemats, and the main king table holding 40 bridal party members and guests were anchored by custom scallop pattern acrylic placemats and the biggest brightest runner of flowers South Carolina has seen. The escort wall held court at cocktail hour and each guest’s name was calligraphed on acrylic scallop slivers hanging from two arches to mimic the hot cross buns in the tent.

[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

The couple was not a huge fan of wedding cake, so we went classic on the flavors and big on the florals. Using a funky linen, floral meadows surrounding the cake, and tiered single flowers the cake looked amazing and tasted just a great.

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]The main 28′ bar in the tent was a showstopper and a surprise for the bride. Together, Grit & Grace and Kelsey Maile Design dreamed up a custom bar panel scene with figures to mimic the actual bridal party and immediate family. The bride and groom didn’t see the finished product until right before the guests did! [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

The ceremony was the first time the bride and groom saw each other all day (no first look!) and the weather and sunshine were just magical. The ceremony aisle was illuminated with a gradient of colorful florals hinting at the incredible reception ahead.

The crowd was bumpin’! So much so that between the crowd surfing, singing on the stage, and an impromptu limbo the groom’s tux pants ripped fully open and he continued to party regardless of the drafty behind until well into the wee hours of the night!
