This couple flew in on a helicopter for their modern black + blush wedding at Hangar 21

Morning, Cakies! Anyone else just love seeing pink and black as a wedding palette? It’s tough to pull off such a striking combo, but Melissa + Trevor did it oh so right (in just 10 months!) with the help of Candace of Fawn Events and Penelope Pots. With a family history in aviation, Hangar 21 in Fullerton was the perfect industrial contrast to their glam decor. OH, and did we mention their helicopter entrance?! Their entire venue was decked out with custom acrylic signage, which made for the “wow factor” basically everywhere you turn.

Melissa tells it, Our theme was a mix of modern and moody with a touch of glam. For the color palette, we went with black and blush hues. We incorporated metallic accents throughout, to make the décor really pop against the industrial style venue. Having family roots in aviation and spending a lot of time at the airport, we knew Hangar 21 was the perfect backdrop for our special day. We knew we wanted something with a modern industrial vibe and just being there and seeing it in person, both of our faces lit up and we both knew it was the perfect fit. Hangar 21 is versatile in so many ways, between the large open floor plan, versatile indoor and outdoor entertaining options, lush greenery on the patio, black iron beams and the views of the runway. We also wanted a grand entrance that would impress our guests. Our grand entrance included a helicopter ride and that was the icing on the cake.

They sure set up these gorgeous tables flawlessly for a guest count of 300!

The bride wore a Justin Alexander lace gown from Mon Amie Bridal Salon that her seamstress Maria Morales added sleeves to channel Melissa’s vision for a classic, romantic, and timeless bridal look.

The bouquet recipe: pampas, garden roses, tinted orchids, brownie tulips, Clooney ranunculus, butterfly ranunculus, tinted babies breath, bleached ruscus, bleached amaranthus, heliconia, anthurium, cherry blossom.

Their ceremony inside the hangar was designed in a circle below dramatic hanging flowers.

The most memorable moment of the day was walking out hand in hand with my husband witnessing our venue and being overcome with gratitude that our vision had come to life. The efforts and love of so many people truly took our breath away. The entire evening was spent with family and friends, while laughing and having the time of our lives. We couldn’t have asked for a better day!

The bride’s brother crafted this custom backdrop, which they added a neon sign from Sketch & Etch Creative to for one of their many lounge vignettes.

I think the biggest hurdle I had to overcome as a bride was honestly making “the final call”. I really struggled knowing that once I made the “final call,” I was going to have to stick with it. I knew hard calls were going to have to be made, but I didn’t think it would have been so difficult at times. Candace at Fawn Events and I still laugh about it today on how difficult it was for me to make the “final call.”
