Retro Palm Springs inspired wedding in DC

Washington couple Julie + Patrick were committed to ensuring every event in their DC wedding took place within blocks of their home. But they also loved the idea of a Palm Springs inspired affair: think mid-mod accents, craft cocktails, bold color, and lots of disco balls. Their solution? Bring those California vibes to them with a colorful, retro wedding at warehouse venue Dock 5—a blank slate just waiting to be transformed. Thanks to Robert Aveau for Bonnie Sen Photography and Vieira Events for sharing today!

We can definitely see a modern seating chart like this in a Palm Springs wedding. They totally nailed the theme, right?

Speaking of those florals!!! Love seeing couples use their ceremony arbor as reception decor and this one was impeccably executed. All of the colorful florals, garlands, and painted foliage were right at home with a sky full of disco balls over the dance floor.

From the beginning of wedding planning the goal was to have every event within blocks of their home and the mission was accomplished. The festivities kicked off with a welcome mixer at a small art gallery, continued at Northeast DC’s Dock 5 and finished with an after party at a local dive. This quintessential Washingtonian couple gave their guests an immersive experience in the neighborhood where they started their lives together after meeting on Hillary Clinton’s campaign.

And things only got more beautiful as the night went on, as the venue was illuminated by twinkling lights and candles.

The bride also repurposed her mother’s wedding dress for her second look of the night. All that fringe (with Gucci shoes too)… yes please!

Julie’s jewelry was designed by her mother using family heirloom sapphires and diamonds. And finally the groom, a self proclaimed sneakerhead, changed into limited edition kicks for his “second look”.
