Vintage Glam DIY Church Wedding in Nebraska

Lyndee and Connor’s Omaha wedding was a stunning celebration of family, friendship and faith. With a loose theme of ‘vintage glam’, they had their ceremony in an old prebysterian church, built in the 1920s, before moving to 1000 Dodge, a fun industrial space for the reception.

As Lyndee is a hair stylist, she styled her gorgeous blush pink asymmetrical pixie herself alongside the hair of her bridal party. With Connor blindfolded, she also did his hair before he got ready! She wore a beautiful Vera Wang dress from David’s Bridal alongside royal blue heels for her ‘something blue’ (before changing into glittery rose gold Kate Spade Keds for the reception). Her eight bridesmaids also wore Vera Wang, wearing blush satin maxi dresses.

The ceremony was one of the highlights of the day for them both. “We loved the romantic, intimate feel of our ceremony”, she explained. “The sanctuary in the church was sparsely decorated due to stained glass windows, exposed brick backdrop, and natural romantic setting of the whole space. The goal for our ceremony was to create an environment where people would feel and experience the love of Jesus. We went for subtle and thoughtful over flashy and typical. No sand ceremony or hand binding, just a simple message, vows, and prayer with our nearest and dearest.”

Their day also featured loads of DIY details, “Our entire wedding was DIY”, she continued. “Centrepieces, chairs, aisle decor, hand written thank you’s on every table setting, and homemade desserts by Connor’s Nanan.”

With only four months to plan, Lyndee and Connor say it forced them to make decisions quickly and make it happen. When asked for the advice they’d give couples in the future, they said: “Worry less. Marriage is way more important than your wedding day. Also DON”T OVERTHINK IT!!! Let you personality show. At the end of the day it’s just a wedding, the important part is the eternity you spend together after those 12 hours.”

“Also, your families will be difficult, just deal with it and make the decisions you need to –  you can’t please everyone! And HIRE A VIDEOGRAPHER! It will FLY by so quickly you will want to have it recorded. For real you will regret it if you don’t have the whole day on video.”
