Pick ‘n Mix London Pub Wedding

Stacey and Ian’s wedding was held in South London, where they live. “We live in Wandsworth, so we wanted our wedding to reflect our love for our lovely borough”, the bride said. “Admittedly, it isn’t as cool as Camden or as high brow as Chelsea, but it is sweet and friendly. We chose the grand chamber at Wandsworth Town Hall for our ceremony which was absolutely beautiful.”

“The reception was at The Antelope pub in Tooting. We loved how lovely it was yet it was just a simple London pub. We immediately fell in love with the laid back and effortless atmosphere and the food was delicious too. I’m surprised more couples don’t choose a pub for their reception as there is no hire fee (just a minimum spend) and they have a charm that only a London pub can deliver.”

The bride described their wedding theme as a mish-mash of lots of different things that they liked. “As much as I love Pinterest and Instagram for collating ideas and crafts, I would have to say that reading about other people’s real weddings on Rock n Roll Bride really helped us decide on what we wanted. The blog features so many weddings that are a veritable pick ‘n mix of ideas, which was what we wanted too. We wanted to piece different elements that we liked together. We knew our experience had to be easy going with a touch of cool and a smattering of obligatory sweetness in order for us both to be satisfied.”

The bride wore a gorgeous dress from Cleo and Clementine. “I have been an avid reader of Rock n Roll Bride for the past three years”, she continued. “So I knew from lusting over other brides’ beautiful unique or simple dresses that a bog standard giant poufy dress just wouldn’t be my thing. In the end I braved ordering a dress online but from the amazing Cleo and Clementine. Monique, the designer, was so accommodating and sweet. I was able to chose elements from different dresses and fit them together to create the dress that I really wanted. I wanted to feel like myself on the day and this dress achieved that.”

The couple also did some DIY projects including the flowers and stationery (designed by the bride’s sister). “Thankfully the room that we had the reception in already had lots of bunting and fairy lights stung across the ceiling, so we hardly had to provide any décor for the room”. she explained. “I personally created some small glitter letters for accents around the room and made the table plan. I also purchased the L.O.V.E mugs from Anthropologie which were only £6 each and filled them with flowers. I put together the frames for the tables too, which had Will Ferrell pictures in!”

“The best thing about wedding planning was seeing it all come to fruition and all the little details that I had fussed over being appreciated or complimented on by guests”, she concluded. “That felt really great. We also both really treasure the time spent and effort given by all those who lent us a hand. It really wouldn’t have been the same without them.”
