Julie and Bryce’s San Francisco wedding took place at The Log Cabin in Presidio Park. “Tucked behind the Golden Gate Bridge in a giant city park called the Presidio resides a very little known (even to locals) log cabin in the woods”, explained Julie. “Here, we married, figuratively and literally, the idea of our big city love with our absolute happy place, which is Tahoe. The perfect blend of Truckee cabin and city skyline, it was the perfect crossroads of everything we love.”

“Being San Francisco natives (a very rare thing), it was very important that we kept things traditional to our roots while combining our biggest loves and inspirations: travel, design, cookies, family, and our dog. In the spirit of Tahoe, we created a s’more bar outside and a fireplace setting in front of the Log Cabin’s indoor fireplace. We also didn’t have any cake, we served milk and cookies instead!”

The ceremony was short but non-traditional and special. “We banned phones during our ceremony so that everyone could live in the moment and remember how the experience felt. We wrote our own vows and we wanted to look out into a crowd of our supporting loved ones, not a sea of iPhones and cameras. The wedding party walked down to Lykke Li and I walked down to Beach House. My sister-in-law was the officiant and Bryce’s sister read a poem called How Falling In Love Is Like Owning A Dog.

“Our biggest expense, by far and away, was catering. This was mostly because, well, San Francisco. Nothing is cheap here. But also because our venue is technically a federal government park, there are a ton of restrictions and we were limited to a very small list of vendors and didn’t get to shop around a ton. However, our caterers were incredible and let us customise so many things. We have absolutely no complaints about them. We really saved money by renting a public venue. It was really was much more affordable and it all turned out great.”

“My biggest advice to future brides is to hire vendors that you get along with. Trust your gut because if you enjoy working with your vendors, it makes the whole process fun instead of a chore. And definitely get a planner, even if it’s just for the day of, you’ll be happy that someone else is responsible for making sure things are put together so you can just sit back and enjoy the day. It was the best thing we ever did.”
