Sam and Jeremy’s colourful wedding took place on November 2, 2019 in New Orleans, Louisiana. They chose Paradigm Gardens, a cute little urban farm next to the interstate, as the venue. Sam wore a Chotronette dress while Jeremy was in a custom suit by Harper & Jones and in lieu of a large bridal party they each chose one ‘best person’.
All of their wedding suppliers were friends beforehand including their photographer, ceremony officiant and entertainment. And after their short ceremony, they celebrated with a small group of friends and family where they ate, drank and danced the night away to their favourite tunes from the 60s and 70s.
“We didn’t have a set wedding theme, but we did aim to keep everything bright and colourful”, the couple told us. “We didn’t go into the planning process with any set inspirations. Instead we both just picked out things that we like and somehow it all worked out!”
Their 20 minute ceremony was unconventional, too. They walked down the aisle together and only the groom read vows (as the bride is not a fan of public speaking). “Our friend Alexis sang a cover of You and Me by Penny & the Quarters”, they continued. “Following us was supposed to be our ring bearer, but she was two years old and not having it – so we pulled in two older kids from our extended family to help escort her down the aisle! Jeremy read his vows, we exchanged rings, smooched then got on to the dance party. There was also no bouquet toss and no cake. We did things because we wanted to, not because we had to.”
“One of the best parts of the wedding was being able to see all the people we love and care about from both sides and different parts of our lives mingling together and having a blast”, Sam concluded. “I truly believe we know the best people. We loved just being able to spend time together to plan a great party that reflected both of our personalities and how in sync we truly are. The event really embodied how much we reflect and enhance each other’s best qualities!”
