Fairytale Hindu/ Sikh Wedding with a touch of Nightmare Before Christmas

Following an engagement overlooking beautiful, clear Croatian waters, Karampreet and Arun married in August 2019. Arun is from a Hindu background and Karampreet is Sikh, so as well as the western civil ceremony, they had a Hindu one with a Milni pre-ceremony ritual where the families greet each other. The day was a real fusion of cultures done in their own way!

Apart from a stunning florals around the bandstand, they let the venue do the talking in terms of decor, although they did sneak in a nod to Arun’s favourite film, A Nightmare Before Christmas, with their cake topper!

Karampreet’s white dress was by Justin Alexander, bought via Supernova Bridal. “I went dress shopping with my sister who spotted the dress in a shop in Datchet. It was the second dress I tried on and I knew immediately it was the one for me as it made feel special. I felt like a princess in that dress, marrying the love of my life, like a real-life fairytale.” Arun used the opportunity to wear a tux for the first time, and their bridesmaids wore dresses from ASOS

For entertainment, they kept things classy with a string quartet for a peaceful, calming atmosphere in the day. The evening was quite the opposite – Calibar kept the dance floor packed all night long. “A very loud and full dance floor was the best way for us to end our day!” they said.

“We splurged on photography and film,” explained Karumpreet, “and it was the best investment and decision of the whole wedding. We couldn’t be happier with the memories that MIKI Studios have given us of our day. We are instantly transported back to all the emotions of the day by watching the film and seeing the images. We’d really recommend future brides and grooms invest in their memories as well!”

The couple also advise trying not to stress with the wedding planning process – try to take it all in an enjoy it all. “Your wedding day is the start of a beautiful chapter so take your time on the day to absorb everything and really enjoy yourselves, it’s your day after all. Take a moment and go off together and enjoy it. Also, grooms – It’s OK for you to cry!”
