Autumnal City Wedding with Mexican & Halloween Touches

Although Gina and Mark’s autumn wedding included some seasonal details – skulls, pumpkins etc – most of all they wanted their day to reflect them. They included their love of Mexico (and Mexican food!) and DIYed a-plenty to make their day feel their own.

They decided to do a first look, followed by a first pint at the pub next to the registry office (where they also had their second date) before their ceremony. Doing things this way round also meant they could do all the photos before everything kicked off giving them the most time to celebrate with their loved ones.

“Our ceremony was in the beautiful clock tower room at Croydon town hall”, Gina said. “I walked down the aisle to Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. I managed to stay on my heels for the duration of the ceremony, but kicked them off shortly after! My sister read a poem called How falling in love is like owning a dog as a nod to our obsession with our pug, Ernie.”

After the ceremony everyone walked to Project B, where they hosted the reception. Most of the decor was DIY including the signs, centrepieces of succulents (which doubled as favours) mixed with faux flowers from Country Baskets and candle holders made from jam jars and neon paint. “The venue had a really cool wall covered in big empty frames, so we filled these with photos from our engagement, embarrassing photos and giant prints of Ernie.”

Gina looked stunning in her Chi Chi London dress, Vivienne Westwood x Melissa shoes, Custom New Look jacket and custom Crown and Glory Nebula veil and faux flower bouquet.

Of their £11,000 budget, their biggest cost was their photographer, but they knew it was something they didn’t want to compromise on. “Chloe somehow got me to actually enjoy having the photos taken which I never thought possible”, Gina said. “She was also great
company and just an all-round awesome person.”
