Antique Fairytale Inspired Destination Wedding on the Almalfi Coast

Jennifer and Sacha achieved the impossible for their June 2019 wedding – they managed to bring 31 of their closest friends and family members from three different countries to celebrate with them in Italy! Inspired by both their European heritages and the music and art that they love, they chose to get wed overlooking the beautiful Amalfi Coast in an antique fairytale themed celebration of love, beautiful surroundings and their nearest and dearest.

With a $15,000 budget, the couple chose to have both their ceremony and reception out on the terrace at the Marincanto hotel. They were married by the maid of honour’s mother under a magnificent arch of flowers.

One of Jennifer’s best friends walked her down the aisle, and then the officiant lead a poignant ceremony. Once they were pronounced man and wife, they had their first dance on the terrace as the sum began to set, followed by drinks and dinner with their friends and family.

There wasn’t a lot of scope for DIY with it being an overseas wedding. but that’s not to say that the couple didn’t include personal touches. Jennifer made origami luna moths for each guest out of artisan paper, carefully flying them over from America with them to adorn the tables. Both Sacha and Jennifer wrote personal letters to each guest as well, to thank them for attending. They spent their budget on the things that mattered most to them – the venue, the dinner, flowers and music.

The thought of planning an overseas wedding was very daunting for the couple, so put a lot of trust into the planners and chosen vendors – and it paid off! “Thanks to our planners especially, we never felt unprepared,” said Jennifer. “It’s important to rust the ones you have hired – they are professionals, do not micromanage and do not get discouraged if things do not go exactly how you planned. Trust in the process, laugh at the frustrations, and know this day will be magnificent.”
