Black Tie Secret Garden Wedding

Just in case you needed any more reason to love Jose Villa, let me introduce you to this next real wedding. It’s the love story of two high-school sweethearts who celebrated their forever with a formal garden party brought to life by Pacific Event Production and Classic Weddings & Events. Of course, there were no shortage of shut-the-front-door floral moments with Kathy Wright & Co behind the stems, and you can see even more tucked inside The Vault.

From the Bride… High school sweethearts Sydney Maren Weinger and Chase Griffin Overlie tied the knot on June 7, 2014 in an evening black-tie ceremony in Rancho Santa Fe. From the moment they were engaged, Sydney and Chase knew they wanted their wedding to feel as intimate and warm as possible so they couldn’t imagine a more perfect setting than Sydney’s parent’s home. The lush greenery surrounding the home and antique feel of the property led Sydney and Chase to their wedding concept- an Edwardian Secret Garden Soiree; a concept that was carried out through the bountiful white florals and greenery, pewter accents and romantic candlelight. Pops of dusty jade hues were intertwined with the metal and cream palette giving each décor element a soft and dreamy feel. Every detail of the day was a reflection of the couple and their families. Many of the flower vessels were actually horse racing trophies her grandparents had won throughout their lifetime.

When guests checked into their hotels they were greeted with a welcome box carefully crafted by the incredible gifting company (and dear friends of the bride and groom), A Signature Welcome. The ceremony took place around the fountain which was filled with abundant ivory hydrangea flowers. Guests sat on wooden bistro chairs with flowers draped on each chair during the ceremony as they held paper parasols to block out the California sunshine. A string quartet played Hans Zimmer’s “Maestro,” as the bride walked down the aisle with her father and the the couple was married underneath a peony and ivy covered chuppah.

After the ceremony, guests went on to the reception through the house and onto the lawn for cocktails and h’or douvres. Each bar was embellished with garlands and the cocktail menu was calligraphed with white paint onto an oversized mirror. The reception was held on the tennis court, which had been tented and adorned with French chandeliers, lush green garlands with roses, and imported hedges and trees draping over guests as they dined. Guests sipped on chai bourbon cocktails and serrano jalepeno margaritas as they danced the night away to the James Gang. As a party favor, each guest received a box of handmade salted caramels from Sydney & Chase’s favorite restaurant, Pamplemousse Grille.

At the end of the night, the newlyweds exited their reception to all 250 guests holding oversized sparklers as they hopped into a 1929 Durant to head to the after party at Rancho Valencia. The incredible team of vendors along with the hard work and creativity of the bride’s mother and the support of the bride and groom’s family and friends led to a truly magical and unforgettable evening that the newlyweds and their loved ones will cherish forever.
