It’s February, winter is dragging, and we are oh so ready for spring, wouldn’t you say? Lucky for us, Jillian and Justin’s wedding at Mountain House Estate in Cloverdale, CA is THE ultimate pick-me-up. Jillian scooped up her romantic wedding gown at BHLDN.

The bride’s mom dreamt up the bright, cheerful blooms throughout.

Jillian explains, We wanted to showcase the part of California that we fell in love with. For me, that was wine country, with a beautiful backdrop. We love spending time outdoors so it, of course, made sense that we were outside. I didn’t want to do the generic color schemes that I normally saw, and with my bridal party being women of color and a beautiful gay man, I wanted colors that would be rich and pop against their skin.

When it came to finding a venue, they loved that Mountain House Estate was expansive and secluded, naturally beautiful, allowed their outside vendors, and near wine tasting. (Yes, please!).

J + J made the ceremony their own by choosing to exchange vows privately and including only traditions they felt connected to.

On the budget: We paid for our own wedding and truthfully we didn’t stay within budget. We came out to about $43,000. The things that helped us stay within were—my mom doing the flowers and arranging, purchasing all the alcohol from Costco, doing a simple rehearsal dinner (pizza and wine), creating our own table settings, doing simplified table settings with disposable dinnerware (compostable plates and cutlery).
